About Kedah

Kedah darul aman mean kedah, Abode of Peace. True to her name, Kedah is a land of peace and tranquility. It is also the 'Rice Bowl of Malaysia' simply because Kedah is the largest producer of rice in Malaysia.

Kedah is located in the northern part of peninsular Malaysia. Kedah is in the northwest corner of the Peninsular Malaysia, and is bounded by Perlis on the north, by the Straits of Malacca on the west, and by Penang and Perak in the south. It's about 45 km south of the Thai border and 100 km north of Penang. It is the last main city you reach if you go via the west coast to Thailand. Kedah is the 8th largest state by land area and 8th most populated state in Malaysia, with a total land area of 9,500 km2 (3,700 sq mi), and a population of 1,890,098.
The Pedu Lake is the largest man-made lake in the state.

The landscape of Kedah is dominated by seemingly never ending paddy fields. Virtually, two third of the state is still covered by forests with some are opened to the public as forest recreational parks. Undulating hills at the forest edge are covered with rubber, oil palm, and fruit plantations. Kedah offers a mix of kampongs, fishing villages, small urban centres and many nature parks.

Alor Setar is the capital, the administration and cultural center of the northern state of Kedah. "Alor" or more correctly, "alur" is Malay for a groove, furrow or main stream of a channel. In Tamil "alur" means drain. "Star"  or "setar" is a plant with small, sour fruit (Bouea macrophylla) also known as either "kundang" or "remia" in Malay. The uniqueness of these fruits is that when you split the seed, each part is purple in color.

Kedah has a relatively heterogeneous populace constituted by the three major ethnic groups; the Malays, Chinese and Indians, similar to most of the other Malaysian states. There are 1,336,352 Malays (who make up about 75.5% of the state's population), 252,987 Chinese (or 14.2%), 122,911 Indians (or 6.9%), 35,293 non-citizens (or 1.9%) and 27,532 people from other ethnic groups (or 1.5%) in the state.

  1. Not bad..pretty good actually. You have most of the items there. Missing items:
    (1) Individual pages. Each member needs to have an individual page to document his or her area of responsibility. Right now, you all share one page. Please make it so.

    (2) No entries on individual entries

    (3) No content on individual entries.

    (4) No designs or GUI of how your website would look like or its layout.

    Good points:
Clean and clear idea and clear documentation

Keep it up but with different pages per member.

    Assessment for progress: B+
